TheToronto Regional/P.M.T.C Driver Skills & Family Day

There are six classes or divisions that drivers may compete in.

  1. Step Van - 2 axle
    • Step vans are courier or parcel delivery type vans. FedEx and UPS delivery vans are a good example of a step van.
  2. Straight Truck - 2 axle
    • Straight trucks are 16 to 24 foot van body type, and can be conventional cab or cabover.
  3. Single-Single - 3 axle
    • Single-Single are single drive axle tractors with a single axle pup trailer, typically 24 to 30 foot van body.
  4. Single-Tandem - 4 axle
    • Single-Tandem are single drive axle tractors with a tandem axle 48 foot van trailer.
  5. Tandem-Tandem - 5 axle
    • Tandem-Tandem are tandem drive axle tractors with a tandem axle 48 foot van trailer.
  6. Train - B-train, usually 8 axle
    • Trains are b-trains, i.e. the second trailer hooked directly onto the back of the front trailer by a fifth wheel.
We have, in the past, used either gasoline tankers or van trailers for this class.

All trucks are day cabs (no sleeper), have air brakes (except Step Van), and if two are used in a class, are matched as closely as possible with each other.
