FIELD TEST COURSE OBSTACLES

Sample layout can be viewed here. Please note that the order and placement of the obstacles is only an example. Also the Serpentine obstacle is forward only. Below are the obstacles that we will be using. Please note that the Diminishing Clearance and Straight Line obstacles are being replaced by the Scale and Parallel Parking obstacles. Scale and Parallel Parking obstacle explanations and scoring are now posted.

For All Classes

For Train Class

The Committee and the Course Marshalls reserve the right to use any or all obstacles in any order.

1. (A) ALLEY DOCK- TO BE COMPLETED BY STRAIGHT TRUCK AND TRACTOR TRAILER COMPETITORS

How It's Done: Barricades define the sidewalls and the dock. If possible, the alley should be at least 20 feet long. It is done against a forty- (40) foot “roadway”, which is also defined by markers or barricades. This station is to be approached from the left side of the vehicle, not the blind side.

TWO (2) PULL-UPS ARE PERMITTED WITHOUT LOSS OF POINTS.

Points will be deducted for any further pull-ups.

The driver may lean out the left window while backing but may not otherwise deviate from the prescribed driving position, or open any door. If a contestant contacts any barricades or runs over any marker, the Judges will blow one (1) long whistle blast to stop the contestant to realign the vehicle.

Contestant must stop the vehicle within six (6) inches of the dock, and will be required to apply the parking brakes prior to sounding horn for measurement with one (1) short horn blasts. The Timer will stop timing when the signal is heard, and will resume timing when the Judges signal completion of measurements.

Note to Judges: Judges will not take a measurement until the parking brake is applied. If the driver does not signal for measurement, the procedure outlined under "GENERAL RULES - TIMING" will be followed.

6.SCALE-TO BE COMPLETED BY ALL CONTESTANTS

How it's done., A 36 inch by 48 inch pad will be placed on the course circuit. The pad will be marked with a line through the center. The procedure.. The contestant must drive the vehicle across the scale stopping the rearmost wheel at the center of the line. The driver will signal for a measurement by applying the parking brake and sounding the horn. No further movement is permitted. The driver must remain inside the vehicle in the prescribed driving position and may not lean out any window or open any door. Points will be deducted for more than one stop. Points are deducted based on the distance away from the ideal position on the scale pad. The ideal position is where the stop line and the center line intersect.

SCORING: Maximum 50 points. Deductions as follows:

2 PointsEach jerky movement
5 PointsEach stop before final measurement
5 PointsFailure to sound horn for measurement
